IPSoc was delighted to welcome Baroness Hale to talk to its members about her career and answer any questions IPSoc members may have.

Baroness Hale was called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn in 1969 and worked as a barrister and in academia, becoming Professor of Law at Manchester in 1986. She was appointed a Recorder in 1989, and in 1994 became a judge in the Family Division of the High Court. In 1999 she became only the second woman to be appointed to the Court of Appeal; in 2013 she was appointed as Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, and in 2017 she became its President, becoming the first woman to hold the role.
